Tracking links

If you are an affiliate you need to use tracking links to ensure clicks, conversions and commissions are attributed to your Linkshop account. You can generate tracking links from your affiliate dashboard. These tracking links can then be used in the same way you would use a normal link to an online store. You simply place the link when you want to direct a potential visitor to the store you are promoting.

Applying to promote offers

Before you can get tracking links for an online store, you must first get approval to promote that store. Approval is granted on a store by store basis, so you need to apply to promote any store that you’d like to promote. To apply, simply click the Offers section in the left hand menu (see below starred folder) then click the Apply button for the offers you’d like to apply to promote as per below.

Generating tracking links

Once you’re approved to promote an offer you can get tracking links with the instructions below. These tracking links go straight to the homepage on an advertiser website. If you’d like to link to specific pages on an advertiser website then refer to the Deep link instructions in the next section of this page.

Step 1. Log in to your Linkshop dashboard. Select Tracking Link Generator. You will find this on your dashboard and also within the left hand menu to under the Tools sections.

Step 2. Next, simply select the Offer (i.e. the online store) you’d like to promote from the drop down list (see below left hand side). Note only Offers you are approved to promote will appear here. You can then click the Copy to clipboard icon shown at bottom right below to copy your tracking link.

Optional: You can also open the Additional parameters box if you’d like to add further parameters to your tracking links (e.g. Sub 1, Sub 2, etc). You can later report conversions by Sub IDs allowing you to report on different traffic sources, websites, placements, members or anything else. They are optional and you can use none or any of the sub ID fields with your tracking link.

Deep linking

Default tracking links go straight to the homepage of an advertisers website. When stores offer direct linking, you can also link to specific product pages on their website. Your home page tracking link consists of the store’s home page followed by some tracking variables (in the example above the tracking variables look like this: ?oid=100&affid=5).

To link to a specific product page simply replace the default home page url with the product page url you want to link to. At the same time, ensure the appended tracking variables stay the same, as per example below:

Default home page tracking link:

https://www.manukadoctor.co.nz/?oid=100&affid=5

Product page tracking link:

https://www.manukadoctor.co.nz/products/wild-flora-honey-500g/?oid=100&affid=5

*Note: This example is for Affiliate 5, hence the affid=5 variable, your affid## will be different. Our system will stamp your relevant affid automatically when you generate the link.
